Practitioner Level
VALIDATED TRAINING
General Hypnotherapy Standards Council

This Training offered by abetterlife has been assessed and validated at Practitioner Level by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (UK).

The course is designed for you to learn how to use formal Hypnosis within a therapeutic framework, for treating a wide range of primarily clinical problems. It builds on your Foundation Training in Hypnosis, and explores a range of physical and emotional problems and how to resolve them using a variety of hypnosis techniques. This is one of three stages of training required to be certified in Hypnosis at  Practitioner Level, the highest nationally recognised level of training as certified throught the GHSC. The third component is the training is in Cognitive & Waking Trance Approaches, which can be taken at any time. The aim is that you will be able to work effectively, efficiently, ethically, safely and legally with the public, when they are perhaps at their most 'vulnerable' or delicate. To this aim, you will also carry out two case studies, with clients, under supervision.

This training requires that you have previously satisfactorily completed the Foundation level training in Hypnosis. This training takes your capability to the next level, with its emphasis being on how to analyse varous presenting physical and emotional problems, and to develop strategies to resolve them based on a wide range of potential approaches using hypnosis. You will also explore ethical practice, and undertake supervision.

You will receive a Diploma on successful completion of this training. At this level you may carry out therapy with clients, subject to making supervision arrangements. Even so, I strongly recommend that you complete your studies to full Certified Practitioner status, and make arrangements for ongoing supervision as required by the GHSC.

This training comprises of twelve days live training, private study and practice, four writen assignments, an open book test, supervision, and supervised case studies. The delivers 84 hours classroom tuition and 219 hours total study towards the requirement for certification at Practitioner Level, as recognised by the GHSC. The detailed course content is shown below. Just a footnote: there are some training institutes which offer a hypnosis certification as part of an NLP Practitioner training. Usually this comprises no more than a few days training in hypnosis, and very little of the strategies of using hypnosis for therapy. This is fine as an introduction to hypnotic phenomena but in my experience, not sufficient if you really want to learn the proper use of hypnosis for therapy.
